Chest Shops

What are Chest Shops?

Chest shops let you buy and sell items with other players through a chest and a sign. Your chest holds the stock, the sign shows what you’re trading and for how much, and money moves directly between you and your customers. SkyMata uses Phoenix Shop for chest shops.

Creating a Shop

1. Place a chest, trapped chest, barrel, or shulker box where you want your shop. It must be somewhere you can build (inside your claim is best).
2. Hold the item you want to trade in your main hand.
3. Shift + Left-Click the container. A shop sign is placed on it automatically and the shop editor opens.
4. In the editor, pick a Mode (Buy, Sell, or Buy & Sell) and set your Buy Price and/or Sell Price.
5. Fill the chest with stock. Your shop is now open!

Buy means players buy from your chest. Sell means players sell to your chest and you pay them. Buy & Sell does both.

Reading the sign

• Line 1 — the owner’s name
• Line 2 — the mode and amount per click, such as Selling: 16, Buying: 32, or Buy & Sell: 16
• Line 3 — the item
• Line 4 — the price. Buy prices are red, sell prices are green. On a Buy & Sell shop you’ll see both, like B $2 S $1.

If a shop shows [Out of Stock], the chest is empty. [Chest Full] means a buying shop has no room left. [Disabled] means the owner has paused it.

Buying and Selling

• On a Buy sign, right-click to buy.
• On a Sell sign, right-click to sell.
• On a Buy & Sell sign, right-click to buy and left-click to sell.
• Each click trades the amount shown on the sign.
• Sneak + left-click a sign to see the owner, item, stock, and prices in chat without trading.
• Sneak + right-click a sign to choose a custom amount instead of the fixed one. You’re charged per item, so 10 items from a shop selling 64 for $640 costs $100.

A trade is refused if the chest doesn’t have enough stock, your inventory is full, or you can’t afford it. When selling, it’s refused if the chest is full or the owner can’t pay you.

Managing Your Shop

Right-click your own sign to open the shop editor. From there you can change:

• Item — drop a different item into the slot to change what the shop trades
• Amount — how many items change hands per click
• Mode — Buy, Sell, or Buy & Sell
• Buy Price / Sell Price — shorthand like 1.5k works
• Enabled — pause your shop without removing it
• Staff — add up to 7 players who can restock the chest and collect earnings (they can’t change or remove the shop)
• Discount — run a timed sale on the buy price, e.g. 20% for 2 hours
• History — see your last 20 trades

Restocking: your stock is simply whatever is in the chest. Open it and add more. Collect your earnings the same way for shops priced in items.

Removing a shop: break the sign or the chest. The chest keeps its contents.

You’ll get a chat message every time someone trades with you. If you were offline, you’ll see them when you log in. Use /chestshop notifications to choose which notices you get.

Commands

Look at your shop’s sign or chest, then:

• /cs price buy (price) or /cs price sell (price) — set a price
• /cs amount (amount) — set the amount per click
• /cs mode buy, /cs mode sell, or /cs mode both — change the mode
• /cs name (name) — give your shop a name (shown in the shop list)
• /cs discount (percent) (length) — start a sale, e.g. /cs discount 20 2h (/cs discount off ends it)
• /cs transfer (player) — give the shop to another player

/chestshop works the same as /cs.

Finding Shops

• /cs list — browse every shop on the server. Add a word to filter by item, owner, or name. Left-click a shop to teleport to it; right-click to trade from where you stand.
• /cs find (item) — find the nearest shops trading an item. Add selling or buying to narrow it down. With no item named, it searches for what’s in your hand.
• /cs market — see every item being traded, with its cheapest seller and best buyer.
